Time to Rise

After Lazarus' sister reminded Jesus that her brother did not have to die, she affirmed her belief that Jesus was still the One in whom she put her trust.  In the midst of her wide array of emotions, she kept her faith.

But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”  John 11:22

Even though Jesus had not done what Martha thought was right...

Even though Jesus' lack of action disappointed and discouraged her...

Even though her faith was shaken, Marsha still believed.

Then Jesus replied:

Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” John 11:23

She already knew that.  She knew that real life...eternal life...would begin after her world passed away.  That one day she would live forever with God in Heaven.

Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”  John 11:24

In essence, she was saying, "It's over."  She had accepted the fact that Lazarus was dead and nothing would change that.  That he left the world too soon but would one day live again.

But Jesus said, "You're wrong.  It's not over.  Lazarus is going to live again.  Now."

“Take away the stone,” he said.  John 11:39

Dig 'em up!  Lazarus' story is not finished.  It is just beginning.  Just getting good!

No matter how dead you feel.  No matter what you've experienced.  No matter how dark things have become.  Don't believe the lie that your hope and your smile will simply be waiting for you on the other side.

You do not have to wait to die again before you live again.

The time to live is now.

Jesus is standing on the outside of your self-made tomb today calling you out!

The time to rise is now.
