Healing Scars

God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.  (2 Corinthians 1:3-4  NLT)

At some point, we hurt.  We hurt deeply.  We hurt ourselves. We are hurt by others.  We hurt.

At times, the pain is too much.  Too much to carry alone.  Too much to forget.  Too much for anyone else to understand.

In those moments, God shows up.  He reveals He has always been with us.  He touches us.  Then He opens us up, takes our hearts in His hands, stops the bleeding, and puts us back together.

That is true mercy.

Time goes on.  Down the road, we see people paralyzed by the same pain that nearly broke us.  We want to look away.  It hurts too much.  Acknowledging their pain just brings back our own.

But it's how we find value in our suffering.

It's God's way of saying to us, "Do you remember how I comforted you?  Be that same comfort to them."

So on behalf of everyone who has benefited from your courage...thank you.  Thank you for sharing your story.  Thank you for not being selfish.  Thank you for not ignoring those who are walking a road that you once crossed.  Thank you for not covering up your scars.  They are healing us.
